IT’S LIKE A DREAM!
Sunday saw Emma Raducanu issue a statement of interest which is ‘It’s like a dream’. She won the USA open at the age of 18. She became the youngest lady to win the title since Maria Sharapova won it in 2004 at the age of 17.
What made Emma’s win a dream was not just the event of the USA open where she played 10 match wins in less than three weeks and had a perfect 20 for 20 in set. That is, she never dropped a set in the race to the USA open final game. She was also the first woman to win a major title in her second Grand Slam event. She was more or less an unknown before this last weekend.
When she was being interviewed, she mentioned that she would not have believed she could win this title as she only had three weeks practice before her first tournament, she just completed her A-levels and was also thinking she had done her best for the year by getting to the fourth round in the second week of Wimbledon. But a few weeks later, her life changed radically.
It is amazing how someone’s life can change in such a short period of time. Many of us never even knew of Emma Raducanus before this USA Open win. She ranked 345 at the beginning of 2021 and 179 after Wimbledon. By the end of the week of winning the USA open, she is now firmly inside the top 30. The first British woman to win a grandslam in 44 years. What a change!
The Psalmist in the word reminds us how God can change our lives and situation around ever so quickly
‘When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.’ Psalm 126:1 (Check out the Message version)
God is still in the business of stepping into the lives of His children to the point of us seeming as if we are dreaming. If this young lady can experience an unexpected and unprecedented success within such a short period of time, how much more your life when your change comes.
I would like to implore you to trust in our God who through numerous scriptures and stories, both in the bible and in our modern day shows us that it does not take too much for Him to change your story and turn your life around.
God is on your side!
