MAKE TODAY MATTER!
I read a statement from CS Lewis that is a great lesson when it comes to life and how to make today matter so as to impact tomorrow. The statement is states
You cannot go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending. — C.S. Lewis — (quote here)
This statement reminded me of Eddie and I’s first meeting. We were in a lecture theatre where I reserved a couple of seats prior to lectures starting. Eddie however got in earlier and occupied one of them. I was quite fiery in those days and everyone advised him not to take my seat to avoid a nasty confrontation!
THE NEWS AROUND IS INCORRECT
Apparently I came in and gave him a harsh look but he decided to chat with me after class anyways. That was when he informed me that the popular opinion was that I was a tough lady that should be avoided. That perception seemed to be different from reality. It was now my responsibility to correct such impression.
There was a need to change something about the wrong perception. Focusing on doing things differently got me to a great point where I became friendlier with better impressions left in the mind of most.
MAKING TODAY MATTER
God’s word on changing today says
As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” Heb 3:15
Do not give excuses for where you are at and how you are perceived but choose to change. God said, it did not matter that the Israelites started in rebellion. What mattered is the fact that they had heard the word and had an opportunity to change their end.
Lastly, do not allow yourself stay stuck in the regret of what did not happen at the beginning. Work on your ‘now’ and make today matter so as to experience a better tomorrow.
